We succeeded in building high-quality indoor accommodation for a limited budget for athletics club Olympus 70. Here, people can enjoy sports to their hearts’ content now that the official 60-metre indoor athletics track can be used for competitions far more often.
René Daemen, chairman of Stichting Atletieksupport Westland (Foundation for supporting athletics in the Westland region):
“In 2010 we asked Bright Buildings to build a multifunctional building covered with two 12-metre-wide roofs in which we can enjoy sprinting (60m), long, triple and high jumps and shot put. The building’s ridge height of 8.5 metres means that we are even able to practise pole vaulting in two places. We also have a spacious, brightly lit canteen, four changing rooms and an equipment storage area on the ground floor. On the first floor are three offices for the management, a physiotherapy area and a large area for strength sports. There’s also an area for after-school activities here.
Extremely multifunctional building
The result is an attractive indoor sports facility protected from wind and frost in which the temperature immediately rises to a pleasant level with a little sunshine, without getting too hot in summer thanks to the sliding roof. Bright Buildings has created an extremely multifunctional building that is pleasant to use and has an indoor climate that can be effectively controlled. So all in all we are more than satisfied!”
